The Potiskum Emirate Council in Yobe State has announced the appointment of Alhaji Umar Yusuf as the new Hakimin Ngojin (District Head of Ngojin) in the Potiskum Emirate.
The appointment was confirmed by the Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umar Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya , who stated that the decision followed extensive consultations with members of the traditional council and other key stakeholders within the emirate.
According to the Emir, the selection of Alhaji Umar Yusuf reflects the confidence the emirate has in his leadership ability, integrity, and wealth of experience in public service. He noted that the new district head has built a strong reputation through years of dedicated service to the people of the state.
Alhaji Umar Yusuf currently serves as the Commissioner for the Yobe State Ministry of Religious Affairs and Public Enlightenment , where he has been actively involved in promoting religious harmony, moral values, and peaceful coexistence among communities across the state.
The Emir explained that the position of Hakimin Ngojin carries significant responsibilities within the traditional administrative structure of the Potiskum Emirate. The district head is expected to serve as a vital link between the traditional institution and the people, ensuring peace, justice, and unity within the district while also supporting development initiatives of the emirate and the state government.
Community leaders and residents of Ngojin have welcomed the appointment with optimism, describing Alhaji Umar Yusuf as a respected figure known for his humility, integrity, and commitment to community development. Many expressed confidence that his leadership will strengthen unity and bring further progress to the district.
