APPRECIATION

On Sunday, 5th April, 2026, the respected youths of Yobe East, distinguished leaders of the Coalition of Yobe East Progressive Youths, and all the wonderful people of the various zones in our great state, demonstrated that the spirit of responsible citizenship is alive and active in Yobe.

I have received with great honour the preliminary report of the ongoing fundraising initiative led by the Coalition of Yobe East Progressive Youths under the able leadership of Dr. Mohammed Goni Yerima. That you have chosen to organize this civic platform not merely as political actors, but as citizens ready to take ownership of leadership and development, speaks volumes about the future we are building together.

As of this reporting stage, the sum of approximately ₦188,000,000 (One hundred and Eighty-eight million) realized through pledges, cash donations, and bank transfers into the dedicated Sterling Bank account (0126966296) is nothing short of remarkable. But what moves me even more is not just the figure, but the commitment and story behind it.

I am deeply aware that this entire effort is aimed at a singular, important purpose: the purchase of my nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress to contest the governorship election in Yobe State in 2027. By this gesture, you have invested in a shared vision and mission for future of our dear state. You have said, through your sacrifices, that you want a government that is truly owned by the people, open, accountable and transparent. 

What touches my heart most is that a significant number of contributors made transfers ranging between ₦100 and ₦3,000. That, to me, is the true definition of grassroots participation and community ownership. It means the widow, the mechanic apprentice, the trader, the student have said, “We believe in this cause, and we are ready to own it, even with our small savings.”

To every young person who sacrificed his or her little token, to every family that pledged in faith, and to Dr. Mohammed Goni Yerima and the entire Coalition for your visionary leadership, I say thank you. I am filled with deep gratitude and appreciation. You have not only raised funds for forms; you have redefined what it means to be progressive citizens of Yobe State. You have shown that leadership is a shared responsibility. My desire to serve is to answer the call of our people. May Allah continue to direct and guide us in this endeavour. Amin.
